Earth Day 2024

Earth Day is a chance for the world to unite, reflect on the current climate and be reminded of the urgence to take care of our planet, as climate change poses an interconnected risk to planetary and human health. The global movement was first set up in 1970 by Gaylord Nelson, US senator and environmentalist, and a Harvard University graduate Denis Hayes. Both had growing concerns about environmental degradation in the US, triggered in 1969 by the cosmic oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. Since the 70’s, this environmental movement has mobilised nations to foster change, sustain positive planetary health and fight for a sustainable future.

Since then, stats from Earth Day.org identify just a few of its many successes including hundreds of millions of trees planted, over $7 billion in grants for Green School funding and thousands of activism protests which have led to establishing many imperative environmental laws across the globe. The Earth Day movement seeks to provide interdisciplinary climate education and environmental literacy in schools worldwide, which will equip students with the knowledge to create change, the tools to inspire innovation and the awareness to consider the bigger picture.

At Worlds Better, we share that same vision as we educate our clients on sustainability, arming businesses with the necessary knowledge to reduce their environmental impact and promote sustainable business practices. Our team are passionate about facilitating bespoke training and educational sessions on how to curate a successful, sustainable event which considers all three pillars of sustainability: social, economic and environmental. To celebrate Earth Day, the Worlds Better team have pledged to eat completely plant-based for the whole day, since we know that this diet emits around 7 times less emissions than that of a meat-eating diet. Let’s not forget about these small changes we can make individually, to create real positive change together 😊
